SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – May 4,  2018.   The Easton Foundations is thrilled to return the Hyundai Archery World Cup Series to Utah. With fantastic local support from the Utah Sports Commission and Visit Salt Lake, we are grateful for the community engagement helping us to welcome hundreds of the world’s greatest athletes to Utah for this prestigious event. The Hyundai Archery World Cup Salt Lake is seeking support from local volunteers to fill many different roles.

There are opportunities for volunteers with longstanding roots in the archery community, and those who have not yet tried or seen the sport. This weeklong event, running from June 18-24, will feature a qualification round to rank the 400+ athletes competing from over 40 different countries. Then, athletes will compete in exciting head to head bracket-style elimination matches in individual and team events. June 23rd and 24th, we will have the finals matches for all events, which will be streamed live on NBC. There will also be a huge archery festival to bring archery fun and games to the Salt Lake community!

We are looking for volunteers to help with field layout and setup, greeting athletes at the airport and on site, handing out water, and many other roles. Every volunteer helps make a difference, and volunteering can be an incredibly rewarding experience.

Diana and Terry LaBeau, a couple who has been involved in the sport of archery for over half a century, have volunteered to drive their RV to Salt Lake to help with this event. Diana shared: “Utah really impresses me as a great community. I think the main thing for anyone who is interested in volunteering is not to be afraid to just jump in and let them know that maybe you don’t know how to do something but you’re glad to learn how to do it and be open to suggestions and some instruction. There is always room for help and there’s no better group of people to be around than the archers.”

Terry added: “The idea is make yourself known that you want to volunteer, a lot of times people develop a reputation because of where they’ve been and what they’ve done. When we volunteered for this event, we were just looking for wherever we could help, and if it was just as a parking lot attendant or whatever, it wouldn’t make any difference. It’s all about helping out at the tournament and making it run smoothly. There’s always a place for you, no matter your physical capabilities, you shouldn’t be afraid to volunteer. There are so many jobs and it’s a very gratifying experience.”
